Introduction to this blog

Consciousness can be generated by the process of computation! This is the claim of neuroscientists and computer scientists. However, the Vedic literature provides a clear idea that conscious by its nature is not a matter and hence it cannot be generated by any kind of complex computation that is due to matter. This blog is to explore the science of consciousness from Vedic perspective.

Consciousness beyond vegitative state

Recently published results on consciousness in vegetative state of a patient gives some understanding on how the awareness still remain active even in the state of deep sleep or vegetative state of a patient. Cambridge researchers have found that the there is a network of neurons which tracks and stores the information while a patient in vegetative state. This results advances the understanding of consciousness in relation to neurons.

I was wondering whether this results can be some how analysed to infer the origin of consciousness. The origin of consciousness is the fundamental problems that have kept most of the neuroscientists amazed. Still the clear view on whether the brain itself produces consciousness(awareness) or there is a separate entity which uses the brain for consciousness communication with the material nature.

Following links are the news and article on the results:
